Bumpers, Armor & Skid Plates in Denver

What We Install

Front bumpers, rear bumpers, rock sliders, skid plates, and frame-mounted armor. We install the protection that keeps your truck on the trail when things get rough.

Tru Automotive is an installation shop, not a manufacturer. We install armor from the brands that the off-road community trusts, and we do it the right way. That means proper mounting hardware, correct torque specs, and clean wiring for any accessories integrated into the bumper like winches, light bars, and auxiliary lights.

Newer vehicles with Toyota Safety Sense, Ford Co-Pilot360, and other advanced driver assist systems add a layer of complexity to bumper installs. Sensors need to be relocated, recalibrated, or retained depending on the bumper design. We have experience working through these setups and making sure your safety systems still function after the bumper goes on.

Winch installs are part of what we do too. We handle the full electrical setup, including proper gauge wiring, fusing, solenoid mounting, and control switch placement. If your front bumper is winch-ready, we will get it wired and ready to pull.

Every truck is different, and every armor setup has its own details. Whether you are building a trail rig that needs full underbody protection or a daily driver that just needs a front bumper with a cleaner look, we will help you figure out the right setup. We also offer custom fabrication for builds that need one-off brackets or modifications.

We are located at 930 W Mississippi Ave in Denver and serve the entire metro area, including Lakewood, Englewood, Littleton, Aurora, Arvada, and Boulder.

Built for Every Off-Road Platform

Tacoma. 4Runner. Tundra. Ford Raptor. Bronco. Wrangler. Colorado ZR2. Ram. We install armor on all of them.

Every platform has different frame geometry, mounting points, and sensor locations. A bumper designed for a 3rd Gen Tacoma bolts on differently than one made for a JL Wrangler or a 5th Gen 4Runner. We have been installing armor across all these platforms since 2013, and that experience means your install gets done right the first time.

If your vehicle goes off-road and needs protection, we can help.

Common Questions About Bumpers, Armor & Skid Plates

Answers to what customers ask us most about off-road armor, bumper installs, and vehicle protection.

Bumpers & Armor

Will a steel bumper affect my Toyota Safety Sense or other sensors?

It can, but most aftermarket bumper manufacturers design around sensor retention. Some bumpers relocate the sensor, some keep it in the factory position behind a cutout, and some require recalibration after install. We have done these installs across multiple platforms and know how to handle the sensor work so your safety systems keep functioning properly.

How long does a bumper install take?

A front bumper install typically takes half a day to a full day depending on the bumper design and whether we are adding accessories like a winch or light bar. Rear bumpers are usually similar. Full armor packages with sliders, skid plates, and both bumpers can take one to two days. We will give you an honest timeline before we start.

Can you install a bumper I bought somewhere else?

Yes. If you already purchased your bumper, bring it in and we will install it. We handle customer-supplied parts all the time. Just make sure you have all the hardware and mounting brackets that came with it.

Do I need a winch with a front bumper?

Not necessarily. Many customers run a front bumper without a winch for the added protection and the cleaner look. But if you are doing serious trail work, especially solo, a winch is a smart addition. Most aftermarket front bumpers are designed to accept a winch, and we can install one at the same time as the bumper.

What is the difference between rock sliders and skid plates?

Rock sliders mount along the rocker panels on the sides of your truck. They protect the body and cab from rock strikes when you are crawling over obstacles. Skid plates mount underneath the vehicle and protect critical components like the oil pan, transmission, transfer case, and fuel tank from rocks and debris on the trail. Most serious off-road builds benefit from both.
