Tru Automotive Refund and Return Policy
This policy covers returns, refunds, and exchanges for products purchased from truautomotive.com.
How returns work at Tru Automotive
Tru Automotive sells parts from over 75 off-road manufacturers. Most products are drop-shipped directly from the manufacturer, which means each manufacturer's return policy applies to the product they ship. We coordinate every return on your behalf, but the timeframes, restocking fees, and return-shipping requirements come from the manufacturer.
To start a return, contact us at austint@truautomotive.com or (303) 954-8836 with your order number. We will:
- Confirm the product is eligible for return under the manufacturer's policy.
- Issue a Return Authorization (RA) number from the manufacturer.
- Provide return shipping instructions, including a return shipping label if the manufacturer provides one.
- Process your refund once the manufacturer confirms receipt and inspection of the returned product.
Standard return guidelines
Unless a specific manufacturer policy applies, the following baseline applies to all returns:
- Return window: 30 days from delivery date. Some manufacturers offer longer windows (Magnaflow offers 45 days, Fox offers 30 days). The longer of the two will apply.
- Condition: Products must be returned in the original packaging, in unused and uninstalled condition, with all original parts, hardware, instructions, and accessories included.
- Restocking fees: Some manufacturers charge a restocking fee, typically 15 to 25 percent. We will disclose any restocking fee before you confirm the return.
- Return shipping: Return shipping is the customer's responsibility unless the return is due to a defective product covered under warranty, or unless the manufacturer's policy explicitly provides a prepaid return label. Original shipping charges are not refundable.
- Refund processing: Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days after the manufacturer confirms receipt and inspection of the returned product.
Items that are not returnable
- Custom-built products, made-to-order products, and special-order items unless explicitly identified as returnable on the product page.
- Products that have been installed, modified, painted, powder coated, drilled, cut, or otherwise altered.
- Products without their original packaging or with damaged packaging that prevents resale.
- Electrical and electronic components that have been opened or installed (most manufacturers' policies).
- Gift cards.
- Tru Race Team apparel and other Tru Automotive branded merchandise once worn or washed.
Damaged or defective products
If your product arrives damaged or has a manufacturing defect, contact us within 7 days of delivery. We will work directly with the manufacturer to file a damage claim or warranty claim on your behalf. Defective products covered under the manufacturer's warranty are eligible for free replacement or full refund per that warranty.
Save the original packaging and take photos of any visible damage as soon as you receive the package. Damage claims filed without supporting photos and original packaging are difficult for manufacturers to honor.
Cancellations
Orders may be canceled before they ship. Once an order has shipped from the manufacturer, the cancellation becomes a return and the standard return policy above applies. Some manufacturers begin building a custom or made-to-order product as soon as the order is placed; in those cases, cancellation may not be possible. We will notify you immediately if your order falls into this category.
In-shop service work
This policy covers parts purchased through truautomotive.com only. Service work performed at our Denver shop, including labor, install, and alignment work, is governed by the work order and any service agreements signed at the shop. Tru Race Team merchandise
Tru Race Team apparel and other Tru-branded merchandise are stocked and shipped by Tru Automotive directly. We accept returns of unworn, unwashed merchandise in the original packaging within 30 days of delivery. Customer pays return shipping. Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5 business days of receipt.
