Custom 4x4 Fabrication & Welding in Denver
What We Do
Welding work that supports the rest of the build. Cab mount relocations and chops, axle bracket welding, shock tower relocations, and frame gusseting at known stress points. The fabrication that comes up when a suspension or drivetrain modification needs the frame or axle modified to make it work.
Tru is a Denver service shop, not a one-off fab house. Our welding stays tied to the install it's part of. We don't fabricate bumpers, skid plates, roof racks, or roll cages. We install bolt-on parts from manufacturers that build those well, and we handle the welding work that's needed to make your build fit and function as intended.
Built for Every Off-Road Platform
Most of our cab mount and body mount fabrication work is on Toyota platforms (Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra, FJ Cruiser, Lexus GX) since that's where relocation kits and aftermarket suspension parts most commonly drive a need for fab. Axle bracket welding and shock tower work happens across whatever platform we're servicing.
If your platform isn't on that short list and you're not sure whether the work fits our scope, give us a call. We'll be straight with you about whether it makes sense to do it here.
When You Need Custom Fab
Most of the welding we do isn't a separate service. It's the welding that comes up while we're installing something else.
Common situations where fab gets added to a build estimate:
- You're running 35-inch or larger tires and the cab mounts need a chop or relocation kit welded on so the tires clear at full lock.
- You're moving to a long-travel suspension or coilover and the shock tower needs to be repositioned.
- You're regearing or installing a locker and need new sway bar, panhard, or link tab brackets welded onto the axle housing.
- An accessory you're adding requires a frame mount that doesn't exist from the factory.
If you're not sure whether your build needs fab work, ask during the install estimate. We'll let you know what's required and what it costs alongside the rest of the work.
Common Questions About Custom Fabrication
Answers to what customers ask us most about custom fab work, welding, and our process.
Fabrication Services
Can you build me a custom bumper?
No. We don't fabricate bumpers, skid plates, roof racks, or other bolt-on products from scratch. We install bolt-on parts from manufacturers that build them well. If a bumper or other part needs minor bracket work to fit your specific setup, we can usually handle that as part of the install.
Do I need to bring my truck in or can I bring just the part?
For axle work, body mount work, and frame welding, we need the truck. For one-off bracket fabrication or welding a part you bought somewhere else, you can usually bring just the part. Call ahead either way so we can plan around your build.
Can you reinforce my frame?
Yes, frame gusseting and reinforcement at known stress points is part of what we do during a build, especially when the build adds significant weight or loads to the frame. We assess where reinforcement is needed based on your specific setup and weld gussets where they actually help. We don't reinforce or modify roof racks themselves. Modern rack systems are engineered for the loads they're rated for.
Do you do body mount chops?
Yes. Cab mount chops and full body mount relocations are common fabrication work, especially on Toyota Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra, and similar platforms running larger tires. We weld the chop plates or relocation kits on, then verify clearance at full lock and full compression before sign-off.
Process and Fit
How do I know if I need custom fab work?
If you're doing a straightforward bolt-on install with parts designed for your vehicle, you probably don't. Once a build pushes past stock, fab work comes up: cab mount kits to clear bigger tires, shock tower relocations on long-travel suspensions, axle bracket welding when you change suspension geometry. If your installer tells you something doesn't fit or doesn't exist for your build, that's usually our cue.
Can you modify parts to fit my truck?
Within our scope, yes. If a relocation kit, sway bar bracket, link tab, or similar part needs to be welded on or modified to fit your specific build, that's standard work for us. If you're asking us to fabricate a custom bumper, skid plate, or rack from scratch, that's outside our scope. We can recommend a fab shop in the Front Range that specializes in that work.
